The catch record

These 7 fields describe the fish itself. They are recorded on every catch, including on the free tier.

Date and time of capture	Local time	Timestamps the record for tournament paperwork or a record claim.
Length	in	Your measurement, kept alongside the automatic data.

Water readings

8 readings describing the sea state and the water chemistry. This is the part no other consumer fishing app records — particularly salinity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll and phytoplankton.

Tide	Stage and height	Which stage the water was in — the single most common pattern anglers find in their own logs.
Wave height	ft	Sea state at the mark, for both fishability and how coloured the water was.
Swell	ft, direction, period	Distinguishes a short local chop from long-period ground swell.
Ocean currents	knots and direction	Current sets where bait collects and how a drift or an anchored bait behaves.
Chlorophyll	mg/ft³	A proxy for plankton density, which marks where the food chain starts.
Phytoplankton	mg/ft³	The base of the food web — concentrations attract baitfish, which attract everything else.
Dissolved oxygen	ppm	Low oxygen pushes fish out of otherwise good water.
Salinity	ppt	In estuaries the salt wedge often decides which species is where on a given day.

A worked example

A Dog Snapper (Lutjanus jocu) logged off Vero Beach at 01:56 PM on 20 July 2026 carried an air pressure of 1015 hPa, an air temperature of 82 °F over water at 85 °F, a waxing crescent moon, 94 % cloud cover and 17 mph of south-easterly wind. In the water: low tide, 2.4 ft of wave height, 1 ft of easterly swell at 7 seconds, 0.6 knots of southerly current, 6.4 ppm of dissolved oxygen and 36.49 ppt of salinity.

None of that was typed in. That is one record, and every catch you log builds another.

Why record this much

One catch record is a nice souvenir. A hundred is a dataset. Once enough catches carry the same fields, the conditions stop being noise and start being a pattern — the tide stage your fish keep turning up on, the pressure band that produces, the water temperature at which a mark switches on.

That is the reason for capturing everything automatically rather than asking you to note it down. Data you have to remember to record is data you will not have.
