Privacy policy
This is the privacy policy for Global Fishing League, effective 20 October 2026. It covers what we collect, how photos and location data are processed, how long data is retained, who it is shared with, and your rights over it — including access and deletion. Catch locations are never shared with other anglers.
Effective date: 20 October 2026
Global Fishing League ("GFL," "we," "our," or "us") operates a global fishing competition platform through mobile applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information, and describes the rights and choices of users.
By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope and Definitions
Personal Information means any information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual.
Processing means any operation performed on personal information, including collection, use, storage, analysis, disclosure, or deletion.
Data includes all information that you submit to GFL via the Services.

- Contact information
- Device identifiers
- IP addresses
2.2 Location Data

- Records
- Metadata

6. Logbooks and Fish Journey System
The Services may include personal logbooks, trip records, photo albums, and fish journeys.
Logs are private by default and are not visible to other users unless explicitly shared.
A catch's location is never shown to anyone but the angler who logged it, and pictures you share from the iPhone app carry no location.
7. Data Storage and Retention
- Platform operations
- AI training
- Model development
- Dataset creation
- Analytics
- Research
- Legal compliance
- Commercial development
8. Data Sharing
8.1 Service Providers

- Advertising partners
- Customer support tools
8.2 Analytics Providers
GFL uses these providers for analytics, monitoring, and error tracking:
- PostHog, product analytics in the apps and on the website. In the apps, usage events (such as screens opened, catches logged and purchases) are linked to your GFL account. They do not include your catch locations or your email address. PostHog estimates an approximate location (city and country) from your IP address. Deleting your account deletes the analytics linked to it (section 10.4).
- Sentry (iPhone app) and Firebase Crashlytics (Android app), crash and error reports. Sentry reports carry a random identifier for the installation, not your name or email address.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Android app).
8.3 Research and AI Development Partners
De-identified image data may be shared for research and model improvement.
8.4 Sign-in, Payments, Notifications, and Conditions
- Apple, Google, and Facebook, when you choose to sign in with one of them. We receive the name and email address they share with us.
- The Apple App Store and Google Play process subscription payments. We receive a record of the purchase, never your card details.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) delivers push notifications to your device.
- Weather, tide, and water data providers receive a catch's coordinates and time so they can return the conditions for it. They do not receive your name or account details.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
GFL uses browser cookies and related technologies for analytics, performance monitoring, and system optimization.
On the website, the Meta Pixel measures visits and app-download clicks that come from our advertising. The iPhone app does not use advertising identifiers and does not share your information with advertisers.

To submit a request, contact: support@globalfishingleague.com
10.4 Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account in the iPhone app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing support@globalfishingleague.com from the address on the account. The account closes straight away: you are signed out, you cannot sign in to it again, and it no longer appears to other users. The usage analytics linked to the account (section 8.2) are deleted at the same time.
To have the records stored with your account erased as well, email support@globalfishingleague.com from the address on the account. We will confirm when it is done. We may keep information the law requires us to keep, and image data that has already been de-identified for model training (section 8.3).
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, and the subscription keeps billing until you cancel it. On iPhone, cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, in the Google Play Store under Payments & subscriptions.
11. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 in the United States or the minimum age required by law in other jurisdictions.
12. Security
